51st state?
Korea and the US have signed a far-reaching free trade agreement. I’m not sure if this makes Korea the 51st state or the 52nd (Puerto Rico) or the 53rd (Iraq?) or 54th… The Korean press is calling it the ‘KORUS era’. Regardless, it’s going to decimate Korean farming, though it seems like rice will be safe for the time being. And this will confirm South Korea’s transformation from a strongly traditional society that prizes its agricultural history to one that prizes its access to fast food.
What does it mean?
What does it mean? I don’t speak Korean!!!!!!!!
Wow, Kiera! You’re really reaching back in my blog! I don’t have time to translate the article, but you might be interested in this approach:
1. Copy the text of the article.
2. Go to: http://babelfish.yahoo.com/
3. Paste the article into the box.
4. Choose translate from Korean to English.
You’ll get a poor translation, but usually they are understandable. And the coolest thing is that you can use it for a whole bunch of other languages, too! So if you want to know what a french or german website says, for example, you can do the same thing. (Of course, it’s better to just learn the languages, but….)
